- Yakushima is a small remote and island located on the southern edge of Kagoshima Prefecture. It is listed as UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. The picturesque and pristine island is a subtropical rain forest with diverse terrain and climate. Its widely varied terrain hosts many ecosystems. The island is dotted with small family-owned tea gardens. Yutaka Midori, a warm region tea cultivar named for its luxuriant green color, thrive on Yakushima island. Yutaka Midori is second only to Yabukita in terms of popularity and land cultivation.
